 Kurt's Picks For Saturday July 24th, 2021

 Race 1: 3-2-5

#3 Big Time Brawler: Is one of three two year olds we will see in todays opener. This son of Sportswriter is coming off of a qualifying win earlier this week in 205/1 with a 29/3 closer. He may be ready at first asking.

#2 Circumstances: Was right there at the wire with my above selection in her prep race over the good track in an identical 205/1 clocking. They will likely renew acquaintances here this afternoon.

#5 Rolandpeg: Is the most experienced in this field with thirteen starts to her credit over the last two seasons. She is still in search of her first win & will be looking to use her experience to her advantage here this afternoon.

Race 2: 5-4-1 New Pick 5 starts. Guaranteed Prize Pool $500.00

#5 Joe C Onefiveoh: Is ready to get the back half of his season underway after a two week break in the action. He was last clocked in 159/4 here at EPR on July 3rd & a repeat of that could land him in the winners circle here today.

#4 Ultimate Flyingnun: Was taken out of here last race early with a miscue and ended up with an 8th place finish. Prior to that she had been pacing consistently in 159 and change which makes her a major player at this level.

#1 Union Man Hanover: Has hit the ticket in half of his ten starts this year but is still in search of that elusive first win. He gets his best post draw in several weeks landing on the pole position which could possibly make the difference.

Race 3: 2-6-1 Keith Camick Memorial

#2 Philanthropist: Paced his fastest mile of the season last time out, stopping the timer in 158/1 in a fourth place finish. The grey teenager draws well and looks to be in a good position to possibly get his picture taken here today.

#6 Woodmere Lexus: Has only missed the board twice in nine attempts this season. He will have to navigate a trip from the outside post however definitely has the talent to overcome it.

#1 Magical Alex: Like his stablemate, this veteran pacer also had his fastest clocking of the season last time out in 158/3. This fellas game has always been up close to the action and with rail control he should be spotted well today.

Race 4: 2-4-5

#2 K D Overdrive: Raced well in a runner up finish in 156 flat which unfortunately was overshadowed by the performance of Emperor on that day. He returns to his home track and looks to be the one to beat at this level.

#4 Montrose Hope: Has been starting to hit his stride as of late with some solid miles and his customary late kick. Expect to see him on the move entering the back half.

#5 Brandon's Glory: Has hit the board in five straight and is still searching for his first trip to the winners circle. He draws the outside post today but has the early step to offset that without much problem.

Race 5: 2-4-5

#2 Instant Shadow: Raced some pretty tough competition in Summerside in his last couple picking up a minor cheque along the way. He is back in NB today with an inside draw. Beware!

#4 Ultimately Handsome: The stablemate of my above selection also returns to Saint John after racing in PEI most recently. The veteran paces consistently sub two minutes with some solid last quarters and should be heard from again here today.

#5 Bugger Max: The stat master is starting to look like himself again after 3 tote board appearances in a row and two solid runner up finishes in Summerside. He will have to continue to be sharp with an outside post and solid competition to his inside.

Race 6: 6-4-1

#6 Blood Money: Is back at EPR after a solid fourth place finish in the Governors Plate two weeks back. The son of Sweet Lou is the only one of the "Big 3" to compete in today's top class and will likely be the post time favorite.

#4 Emperor: Made a statement last week in Summerside with a 154/2 romp by open lengths and a 28/2 smoker on the end just for good measure. He will have to bring his A game once again as he moves up to the top class but how can you argue off of that last performance.

#1 Thankyouallmyfans: Has raced the best NB has to offer for the better part of the season and has not been out of place by any means. He gets the advantage of drawing the rail which could pay big dividends here in todays finale.
